WDIWT....6/21/14 Class of 2014 Graduation!

Today was the graduation of the 3rd graduating class I've had the pleasure to teach! I wore a navy blue suit and broke out the Carmina Pythons for the occasion. When wearing something bold, in this case the shoes, keep everything else muted.

WDIW...Thursday 6/13/14

I intended to wear my navy grenadine tie from the knottery with this particular suit and shirt combination but didn't get a chance too once we heard of delays 2 hour delays to cross the George Washington Bridge.

This suit is from when SuitSupply had their online outlet open. It was a great steal at $259 especially considering that it is a pattern that I don't have, wide pinstripe. I really should wear it more than I do now.

This is also the maiden voyage for my new ModernTailor shirt, a pink/white pin dot which looks solid from a far.

Details:
Suit: SuitSupply Gray/White Wide Pinstripe Napoli via SuitSupply Outlet-$259 plus alterations (letting jacket out, hemming trousers)
Pocket Square: Merona White Cotton via Target-5 for $5

Socks: J. Crew Dark Pink Cotton via J. Crew-$4
Shoes: Church's Custom Grade Tassel Light Brown Loafers via Adrian-$75

WDIW...Wednesday 6/11/14?

I believe that I wore this on Wednesday. This is one of the first "big boy" suits that I bought, way before I ever started "dressing better" and was still rocking sneakers on a daily basis. I paid $75 for it together and paid a few bucks back then to get them hemmed, granted I didn't know what I was doing. For that reason it also not the best fitting suit and fits snug.

Fast forward to now, I've had the pants tapered and the sleeves shortened. I need to get the jacket let out. If worn unbuttoned it works, if I button it, it pulls like crazy.

This was also my first day attempting to wear laced up shoes since breaking my toe...it probably wasn't a good idea by the end of the day.

Suit: Calvin Klein Navy Cotton/Linen Blend via CalvinKlein.com-$75 plus alterations

WDIWT...6/5

First time I wear this suit but it needs some work. Had it taken in last week and I think my guy took it in a little too much, either that or my stance isn't helping.

WDIWT...5/19/14 Black Watch Edition!

Bold patterns aren't usually my thing, especially in regards to jackets. The Black Watch pattern has always been intriguing but I never made that leap to try it until now.

I found this blazer at JC Penney of all places for $10 and as it fit well off-the-rack with the exception of needing the sleeves shortened it was too good of a deal to pass up and give this pattern a run. The alterations ran me $35, so all in all, $45 for an incredibly well fitting jacket, was worth it to me. I would have paid that if it fit well OTR and no alterations needed.

Details:
Jacket: Stafford Black Watch Wool via JC Penney-$10+$35 in alterations=$45

WDIW...Friday 5/16 Oh So Casual

As casual as I'll get on a casual Friday. Peep my wife's Carmina's next to me in the first pic and my double monks on the second pic.

The shirt isn't pictured but I was in it for most of the work day as it was incredibly muggy inside the building. The shoes are by far one of my best purchases from eBay. They are pebble grain leather derby's with a rubber sole which makes them perfect for the wet weather we had this Friday.

WDIWT...5/5/14 A Taste of Color

I've been reluctant to wear these Tommy Hilfiger burgundy/maroon trousers that I picked up a few weeks back at Macy's for about $10. Granted I have some from Target's Merona line as well but although I've seen the color pulled off very well by others I hadn't gotten around to giving it a second try. Well I'm glad I did today. This was probably one of my most complimented outfits ever, from other teachers/adults to students.

I picked up these trousers from my tailor about a week ago where I got them hem and tapered to 8".

Details:
Jacket: Indochino Essential Navy Suit Worsted Wool via Indochino-$449 (price of suit, part of a 3 piece suit)

WDIWT...4/29/14 Layered Up Again

Mother Nature hasn't figured out that its the end of April so temperatures dipped again. Layered up today as I didn't want to wear a coat for today. The shoe choice could have been better but considering that the forecast called for plenty of rain I went with my suede rubber soled beaters.

Side note: I've finally figured out; I think, the leg opening on my trousers, at 8". This is my first set of trousers exactly at 8".

WDIWT...4/24/14 Olive and Brown

A departure from my typical shades of navy, gray, or gray bottoms for today. Olive trousers are underrated, including by me. The versatility of this color can have it combined from a brown blazer to a navy blazer. If you're ever confused about what goes with a shade of green, always think earth tones as mother nature has already doing the color matching for you.

Details:
Blazer: Lauren by Ralph Lauren Brown Herringbone Tweed via Unique-$20
Sweater: Old Navy Light Brown Marbled V-Neck via Old Navy-$10 or Gift (don't remember)
Shirt: Merona White Oxford L/S Dress Shirt via Target-$22

WDIWT...4/23/14-Fall into Spring

Fall can't seem to leave New York even when it's the end of April. Corduroy trousers and a donegal tweed blazer did the job on this brisk day in the city and on the first day back to work from Spring Break. In regards to color I kept it simple, navy, light gray and a light brown. I could have worn light brown trousers and a navy blazer and the combination would look just as good.

Details:
Blazer: Vintage Stafford Donegal Tweed 100% Virgin Wool via eBay-$8 (no alterations needed)
Shirt: Indochino Light Gray Micro-Check MTM L/S Shirt via Indochino-$79
Trousers: H&M Navy Corduroy via H&M-$20

Carmina Fitzgerald & Epaulet German Army Trainers

Epaulet New York ventured out of New York; with two locations one in Brooklyn and one in Lower Manhattan, last year and opened up a store in Santa Monica, CA. Unfortunately for West Coast menswear enthusiasts, Epaulet's Santa Monica location is closing it's doors today. In short, the location was a temporary lease and the owner wants to up their monthly payment to 3 times more than what they pay now if they want to extend the lease. I don't blame them for not extending the lease.

As part of their closeout sale all their merchandise is on sale, deep sale. Everything in-store with the exception of their Epaulet LA line is 50% off if you pay cash and 40% off with credit/debit, with EPLA 15% off. When I say everything, I mean everything. From their sports coats  by LBM 1911, to their Epaulet brand, Saphir creams, and whatever they have left from Carmina. Epaulet's version of the German Army Trainer (GAT) which retails for $275 are $100 today.

Not much was left when I arrived but enough to make it worth my while. For my friend Adrian I picked up the GAT in white/gray for the aforementioned price of $100. Made in Italy and the leather is butter soft. I have a wide foot, otherwise I would have purchased a pair for myself as well. My personal pick up were the Carmina Fitzgerald in French Calf on the Forest Last. Retailing for $545 on Epaulet's site, I walked out the door with my size 10UK for $275 (tax included). I was hoping for their loafers to be available but they had small sizes and one large size left.

In addition and not pictured I bought a jar of Saphir renovateur, a medium brown creme and a Saphir polishing brush for $10 each.

WDIWT...4/13/14

Today was an incredibly beautiful day so we headed to Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz, NY. Wifey had a spa appointment, it's always good to treat the love of your life to something nice. The sneakers were due to the hiking we did.

And just because some pictures of the views at Mohonk.

Details:
Sweater: J. Crew Light Blue V-Neck via J. Crew Factory-$15
Shirt: Old Navy White/Navy Stripe S/S Casual Button Down Shirt via Old Navy-$10
Jeans: Old Navy "Slim Fit" via Old Navy-$2.50
Shoes: Springfield Navy/Maroon/White Lowtop via Springfield in Nice, France-30Euros or about $40 (bought them due to it raining and wearing leather bottom shoes were not a good idea)

WDIWT...4/12/14

Wearing a donegal tweed jacket seems kind of silly today as it hit 71 by 2pm today but considering when I left home it was about 53 and windy, it was appropriate for the weather.

This is probably one of my favorite go to outfits when dressing down or casually and I still want to throw on a jacket/blazer. It's a simple look, navy casual shirt with white polka dots, navy v-neck sweater and a brown tweed jacket paired with navy blue bottoms. I've worn a variation of this with navy corduroy's here and a lighter brown jacket here with a dark sweater.

Details:
