WDIWT....08/20/13 Birthday Edition

I must admit that this is the first birthday in a good while that I was excited about and I gotta say it was a really good birthday. Treated myself to a new bespoke suit and a couple of shirts from Michael Andrews Bespoke and with the heat definitely went light with what I wore today. I also dropped off the jacket from my Indochino at The Tailoring Room in SoHo, I have a good feeling about the work they do.

First, what I wore today:

Second, what my new bespoke order. This is the first time I actually did something for my birthday and that was order a suit for myself. I wanted a 3 piece donegal tweed suit and here is what I went with. In addition I got 2 shirts as Michael Andrews Bespoke is running a promotion during the month where you get 2 free shirts with any suit order, a $500 savings.

Loafer Socks and Another Knit Tie

I apologize for the lack of posts in the past week and a half, just haven't had time to take any WDIWT pictures.

Nonetheless picked up a couple of things today on a run to Marshall's to see if I found clearance Happy Socks but no luck but I did find two other things. First, I found a Navy/White Pindot Knit tie by US Polo Association for $10 and second, some Vince Camuto loafer socks for $3. The tie isn't the best deal I've found there but I liked the tie and it wasn't too bad of a price. The socks though I think are a great price. If you like the sockless look but can't do the no sock thing or don't like how it feels then loafer socks are a great investment. The cheapest I've seen them is $12 a J. Crew Factory, $6 during a 50% off everything sale so at $3 these are a great price. Like the J. Crew pack, these are also 2 pair.

Their were some Pantherella socks too which I might go back and pick up not sure.

The Shoes-Meermin Rapello Suede Double Monk Straps

After a wait of a couple months my two shoes from Meermin came in and they were well worth the wait. Big thank you to my wife for these!

I've wanted Double Monstraps for awhile with my first pair also being from Meermin but in leather. I have to admit that I at first was hesitant to venture into the Double monk phenomena but I'm glad I did. Soon after I received my first pair I put in the order for my second pair of double monks but this time in brown suede. The brown suede allows it to be a shoe that can not only be dressed up but dressed down. The Rapello Suede Double Monks from Meermin feature a Dainite sole (standard) but I am almost sure that you can request a leather sole instead. The quality of the leather is great and can't wait to wear these.

Today Was A Good Day...New Suit and Shoes Part I-New Suit

Received a package I was expecting and a package I wasn't until next week.

I ordered the Indochino 3 piece Essential Navy Suit in 100% wool. I already have a navy suit but it is a cotton/linen blend which is great for summer and spring but not so practical during the fall and winter. Indochino gets a lot of slack online for fitting issues primarily and for their fabrics and I still don't understand why.

This is my second suit from Indochino, my first being the brown tweed suit I've worn here and one of my favorite suits. The first time I did have to get the vest and jacket re-made (sent back to Indochino and had them remade by them) and the pants hemmed. This time it came out close to perfect, my only hesitation is the lining on the vest. I thought the navy was darker, such as it to match the fabric. Indochino's great customer service replied to my inquiry about this within 2 minutes, literally, and they have offered to remake it with the same fabric or if I choose to keep it they are offering me a free tie and pocket square.

Dropped the pants to be hemmed but the jacket is perfect and the vest if I keep might need to be taken in just a bit. The suit needs to be pressed as well but otherwise that's it. I recommend going with a one button jacket for a lower and much better button stance.

New Briefcase!

Today is my wife's and I 3rd Anniversary and she got me this awesome briefcase from Frank Clegg Leatherworks. It is handmade in the USA and craftsmanship is exceptional. The model is the American Briefcase, color is Cognac. I will let the pictures speak for themselves.

JC Penney is getting rid of a lot of their Spring/Summer inventory and some of the prices are incredibly good. For example, Seersucker Blazers for $20, and matching pants for $10. There is something for everyone whether you are looking for dress shirts long or short sleeve, shorts, chinos, etc. Today I found some chinos at my local JCP and a knit tie all for $19.75...if you have the Retail Me Not app and even if you don't there is a $10 off $25 coupon out there which works on clearance as well.

Nice cool down today and somewhat breezy as well. The sun was nice and bright not letting us forget that summer is still here. It is important to have light knit layers for those chilly Spring and Summer days. Layering is great and adds another dimension to your outfit.

Went with a combination of three colors, blue, brown and gray.

Thrifting Pick-Up...For Sale

Found this nice pair of Allen Edmonds at a Thrift Shop first time I find anything. They are actually the Allen Edmonds MacNeil's, longwings which are great for both casual wear and for dressing up. The AE MacNeil's retail for $345 and well if you're interested in these I'm letting these go for a great price! They are a size 9EE, I will say the only issue is the sole which will need some love in the future but still have plenty of life left.

The first day of Augst met us with temperatures in the 60's and and rain. It was actually kinda nice getting a taste of fall and wearing a sweater. As I was making a quick run out and still wanted to keep a feeling of summer as it is summer I went sockless.
