WDIWT…12/16/13

Shades of blue and textures for today. Mixed a variety of navy blues today. Just because one brand labels it navy it doesn't mean that navy is the same to every brand, case and point, today. All 3 brands labeled their garments as navy and well they are all different. In addition I wanted to mix two traditionally Fall/Winter fabrics, corduroy and tweed; donegal tweed in this case.

I had some work done to the jacket, specifically to the midsection. The difference is noticeable.

WDIWT...12/11/13

Layered up big time today, v-neck sweater, blazer and a topcoat. It felt bulky but it kept me warm which is the important part. The pocket square in the topcoat isn't necessary but I felt that it was a nice touch. I've seen it done by a few of my friends as well.

Apparently I wasn't the only one with this idea of layering today. One of my co-workers did the same thing today, denim, v-neck sweater, blazer and a topcoat. The difference; all black but the v-neck. Granted much like me, we both spent most of the day out of the topcoat. Some ideas in menswear do translate into both genders. Additionally these boots have received a lot of wear lately for two reasons. One, the boot itself, sleek wingtip in brown leather and two the rubber soles. The best $40 I have spent.

WDIWT…12/9/13

Layered up for a very cold day today. This simple layering actually avoided the need to carry a coat. Added some gloves and some earmuffs and I was good to go.

The Stafford Camlin boot has received a lot of wear this past week. The styling is simple yet classic, which can be worn with everything from jeans to dress trousers to corduroy's. The rubber sole is great for the wet weather and although they aren't Allen Edmonds Daltons for $40 they are a great pair of boots to have to wear on these wet and nasty days.

WDIW...Yesterday 12/5/13

I've had these pants sitting around for a bit and I think it's maybe the 3rd time I wore them. Funny enough one of the female teachers was wearing pretty much the exact same thing. The difference, her pants were fitted cargos, her boots had a heel and were suede and her sweater was a dark brown, same as the boots. Even funnier, one of my buddies sends me a picture showing me he had the same get up as I as well...lol.

WDIW...Yesterday 12/4/13

Shades of blue again! I completely forgot I had this sweater in my closet and it just happened to be the one sweater at the top that went with what I was wearing. Originally was going to go with navy but I remembered it was in the hamper. I received many compliments on the color choice, so apparently it was a good choice.

WDIWT…12/2/13

I bought this suit from SuitSupply about 2-2.5 weeks ago from their recently launched SuitSupply online Outlet store. The retail price on the suit was $449 which is on par with their line of suits but they had it for $259 plus tax. I had the jacket let out at the chest and the trousers tapered, waist taken in and hemmed with a 2 inch cuff. In total alterations were about $80 so for about $360 with tax is not a bad deal at all.

Details:
Suit: SuitSupply Gray/White Wide Pinstripe via SuitSupply Outlet-$259 plus $80 in alterations
Shirt: Indochino White L/S Dress Shirt with French Cuffs via Indochino-$79
Tie: American Eagle Outfitters Navy/Pink/White Rep Tie via American Eagle-$7
Shoes: Allen Edmonds Brown Clifton via Allen Edmonds Factory Store-Gift
Overcoat: 100% Wool Bespoke Coat via Unique Thrift Shop-$12.50

Modern Tailor-MTM at an Affordable Price

When it comes to anything that is Made-to-Measure (MTM) or Bespoke I try not to stray from my two usual places, Indochino for MTM and Michael Andrews Bespoke for well bespoke. I was hesitant to try another place especially when I already have my measurements with a place such as Indochino set. After some convincing from friends I went ahead and ordered a shirt from ModernTailor. For $35 shipped; keep in mind this is their test shirt and can only be ordered once, it is a great price. Even their other shirts don't go over $50-60 plus $10 shipping.

I measured up one of my bespoke shirts from Michael Andrews Bespoke to really hone in on the measurements and for good measure when I wasn't 100% sure on a certain measurement (ie. the neck) I would compare it to my Indochino one. For $35 shipped I have no complaints and looking forward to wearing it very soon.
