After 3+Years...First Post Back

It's been a while...life got busy and well this fell to the way-side.

Even though it's been a few years, I'm still "dressing better" and try to do it with quality products that are kind to the wallet. Keep in mind that quality isn't usually cheap but if you look around you may just find a great deal out there. In addition, what may not be considering "cheap" to you may be "cheap" to others. For example a $300 SuitSupply suit is a great price but it may seem expensive to someone who is used to spending $100 on a suit from Macy's. The quality on the SuitSupply is very likely to be much better than any Macy's suit.

A few from the past couple weeks:
Suit: SuitSupply ($100 on eBay+Alterations), Shirt: SuitSupply ($20 eBay), Tie: Conrad Wu ($80)

Suit: Indochino MTM ($350), Shirt: SuitSupply ($39 Outlet), Tie: Facconable Grenadine ($30 eBay)

Suit: Indochino MTM ($350), Shirt: SuitSupply ($39 Outlet), Tie: Conrad Wu (Gift), Square: TieBar ($10)

Suit: SuitSupply ($260 purchased in Milan SuSu Store), Shirt: Michael Andrews Bespoke (Gift), Tie: Conrad Wu ($80), Square: J. Crew Factory ($6)

WDIW...Wednesday 6/11/14?

I believe that I wore this on Wednesday. This is one of the first "big boy" suits that I bought, way before I ever started "dressing better" and was still rocking sneakers on a daily basis. I paid $75 for it together and paid a few bucks back then to get them hemmed, granted I didn't know what I was doing. For that reason it also not the best fitting suit and fits snug.

Fast forward to now, I've had the pants tapered and the sleeves shortened. I need to get the jacket let out. If worn unbuttoned it works, if I button it, it pulls like crazy.

This was also my first day attempting to wear laced up shoes since breaking my toe...it probably wasn't a good idea by the end of the day.

First time I wear this suit but it needs some work. Had it taken in last week and I think my guy took it in a little too much, either that or my stance isn't helping.

WDIWT...5/19/14 Black Watch Edition!

Bold patterns aren't usually my thing, especially in regards to jackets. The Black Watch pattern has always been intriguing but I never made that leap to try it until now.

I found this blazer at JC Penney of all places for $10 and as it fit well off-the-rack with the exception of needing the sleeves shortened it was too good of a deal to pass up and give this pattern a run. The alterations ran me $35, so all in all, $45 for an incredibly well fitting jacket, was worth it to me. I would have paid that if it fit well OTR and no alterations needed.

Details:
Jacket: Stafford Black Watch Wool via JC Penney-$10+$35 in alterations=$45

WDIWT...4/29/14 Layered Up Again

Mother Nature hasn't figured out that its the end of April so temperatures dipped again. Layered up today as I didn't want to wear a coat for today. The shoe choice could have been better but considering that the forecast called for plenty of rain I went with my suede rubber soled beaters.

Side note: I've finally figured out; I think, the leg opening on my trousers, at 8". This is my first set of trousers exactly at 8".

WDIWT...4/12/14

Wearing a donegal tweed jacket seems kind of silly today as it hit 71 by 2pm today but considering when I left home it was about 53 and windy, it was appropriate for the weather.

This is probably one of my favorite go to outfits when dressing down or casually and I still want to throw on a jacket/blazer. It's a simple look, navy casual shirt with white polka dots, navy v-neck sweater and a brown tweed jacket paired with navy blue bottoms. I've worn a variation of this with navy corduroy's here and a lighter brown jacket here with a dark sweater.

WDIWT...4/7/14 Spring Mixed With Fall

WDIW...Monday or Tuesday?

Haven't had time to snap pictures this week so I really don't remember if I wore this on Monday or Tuesday. Anyway, I've lately been feeling colors, especially different shades of purple and have been trying to incorporate it into my wardrobe. The dark purple v-neck sweater was a steal at about $15 from Banana Republic especially as the fabric is Merino Wool. The trousers are part of a 3 piece Michael Andrews Bespoke suit.

WDIW…Thursday 3/13/14 (Tweed, Violet and a Cow-lick)

Mother-nature decided to throw us a curve-ball on Thursday and drop the temperature from 55 on Wednesday to about 25 on Thursday, layering was necessary. My nephews were also in town from LA so I went and met them at the National History museum in the city. I had a hat on before this picture hence the hair…sorry.

WDIWT…3/3/14

Short post for today. I made sure I layered up today with how incredibly cold it was in city today. Therefore, I went with my tweed suit, a v-neck sweater and an overcoat to keep the temperatures at bay.

The most difficult thing for me when wearing this suit as a complete piece is what shirt to pair it with as the suit already speaks for it's own. Usually I stick with a solid white or blue shirt but today I decided to pair it with a white/blue checked shirt.

I apologize in advance for the full body suit pictures, it was the best I could get with a timer.
