WDIWY...6/2/14

I've had these cotton unlined trousers for a while and I was finally able to wear them out yesterday. They are incredibly breathable which is great for the heat we had yesterday. They need a taper though that's for sure.

WDIW...Friday 5/16 Oh So Casual

As casual as I'll get on a casual Friday. Peep my wife's Carmina's next to me in the first pic and my double monks on the second pic.

The shirt isn't pictured but I was in it for most of the work day as it was incredibly muggy inside the building. The shoes are by far one of my best purchases from eBay. They are pebble grain leather derby's with a rubber sole which makes them perfect for the wet weather we had this Friday.

WDIWT...5/5/14 A Taste of Color

I've been reluctant to wear these Tommy Hilfiger burgundy/maroon trousers that I picked up a few weeks back at Macy's for about $10. Granted I have some from Target's Merona line as well but although I've seen the color pulled off very well by others I hadn't gotten around to giving it a second try. Well I'm glad I did today. This was probably one of my most complimented outfits ever, from other teachers/adults to students.

I picked up these trousers from my tailor about a week ago where I got them hem and tapered to 8".

WDIWT...4/29/14 Layered Up Again

Mother Nature hasn't figured out that its the end of April so temperatures dipped again. Layered up today as I didn't want to wear a coat for today. The shoe choice could have been better but considering that the forecast called for plenty of rain I went with my suede rubber soled beaters.

Side note: I've finally figured out; I think, the leg opening on my trousers, at 8". This is my first set of trousers exactly at 8".

WDIWT...4/24/14 Olive and Brown

A departure from my typical shades of navy, gray, or gray bottoms for today. Olive trousers are underrated, including by me. The versatility of this color can have it combined from a brown blazer to a navy blazer. If you're ever confused about what goes with a shade of green, always think earth tones as mother nature has already doing the color matching for you.

WDIWT...4/12/14

Wearing a donegal tweed jacket seems kind of silly today as it hit 71 by 2pm today but considering when I left home it was about 53 and windy, it was appropriate for the weather.

This is probably one of my favorite go to outfits when dressing down or casually and I still want to throw on a jacket/blazer. It's a simple look, navy casual shirt with white polka dots, navy v-neck sweater and a brown tweed jacket paired with navy blue bottoms. I've worn a variation of this with navy corduroy's here and a lighter brown jacket here with a dark sweater.

WDIWT...4/9/14 Rare Air!

Field trip today with students to Sony WonderLab and with the walking we were going to do I figured sneakers would be appropriate for today.

I haven't wore sneakers to work in a long time so I figured why not bring out my rarest pair; the Nike Air Zoom Kobe IV Home Player Exclusive. House of Hoops released a version of this shoe but in a true purple (darker than the shoe pictured) while this is the lighter purple that was made for Kobe Bryant to wear during the 2009 Finals against the Orlando Magic. I know of only 4 others pairs, with 3 of those being in Kobe's size, 14. These are in my size.

My nephews were also in town from LA so I went and met them at the National History museum in the city. I had a hat on before this picture hence the hair…sorry.

WDIWT…3/3/14

Short post for today. I made sure I layered up today with how incredibly cold it was in city today. Therefore, I went with my tweed suit, a v-neck sweater and an overcoat to keep the temperatures at bay.

The most difficult thing for me when wearing this suit as a complete piece is what shirt to pair it with as the suit already speaks for it's own. Usually I stick with a solid white or blue shirt but today I decided to pair it with a white/blue checked shirt.

I apologize in advance for the full body suit pictures, it was the best I could get with a timer.

WDIW…Wednesday 2/26/14

A custom made double breasted overcoat for this incredibly frosty day. I actually found this while thrifting with my good friend Adrian back in October. The coat was custom made for someone else by a tailoring house in Seoul South Korea. The wool is incredibly soft and frankly I don't think it was ever worn until I bought it. It still had the basted stitching on those awesome lapels. The coat isn't a perfect fit as the shoulders could be a little smaller but the rest of the coat fits perfectly especially when worn over a blazer. This likely ran near a grand to whoever had it made for themselves, I picked it up for pennies on the dollar.

WDIWT…2/4/14

Went to a Proper Cloth Sample Sale today and picked up the shirt in the pictures below. The first two pictures show the color and pattern on the shirt better than the other pictures. Proper Cloth is a custom shirtmaker which can be ordered both online or in their brick and mortar store in Manhattan. Their shirts are usually anywhere from $150-200; depending on fabric. The sample sale had them for a lot less as long as you found your size or something close.

WDIWT…1/28/13 (Layering Again)

This morning we were greeted with 10 degrees below 0 on our way to work. Staying warm is critical, whether it'd be for comfort or to simply remain healthy. I personally use layers to stay warm and on days like today some additional protection underneath such as HeatTech long johns and t-shirt from Uniqlo. Lastly, the other reason for layering is unpredictable indoor temperatures. Working in a school the heat can vary from classroom to classroom, sometimes requiring removing a layer.

Details:
Coat: Brooks Brothers Brookstorm Loro Piana via Unique Thrift Shop-$25 (msrp $600)+$80 in alterations (The Tailoring Room)
