WDIWT...10/30/13

Focused on only having one color that attracted attention today. I'm usually not a fan of red period, but having a red gingham pattern makes it easier to wear than a solid red shirt. There are some shirt colors that in my opinion no man should own or wear.

I can finally wear a jacket all day and not feel like I'm sweating! Went with a few different colors in the mix today, including one bright one, red. Looking at my donegal tweed jacket that I'm wearing with it now, it happens to be one of the colors of the specks in the donegal tweed.

Recent Pick-Ups

Some pretty nice picks up in the last week and all for a great price. Gotta thank my friend Adrian for the ties, pocket squares and shoes in the first picture! He headed to the Michael Andrews Bespoke sample sale and found some amazing things, including a beautiful blue suit that fit him perfectly. I also managed to find some pretty awesome things at one of my favorite spot for basics, JC Penney. These navy shorts with this diamond pattern caught my eye and there is something about them that made me jump on them. Usually I'm not big on patters on shorts or trousers but these were too cool to pass up and the price was too good as well.

WDIWT...6/14/13

The weather is much nicer than yesterday with it being in the low 70s but still unseasonably cold this morning and windy. I'll be heading out later today to meet up with a friend as well and with temperatures likely dipping down again into the 60s, this layered look is perfect for those cold morning or nights when the wind picks up, or for it starts to warm up and can just lounge around in the cardigan.

Sweater: Gap Gray Cardigan via Gap Factory Store-$15

WDIWT...5/3/13

The weather again was somewhat interesting, with it being cold in the morning at around 52 degrees and windy with the temperature then climbing to about 70 with a little bit of wind and a lot of sun. To avoid a coat as it wasn't cold enough for a coat but still decent enough to layer I decided to do exactly that layer. The great thing about layering a sweater under a blazer is that you can just take the blazer and leave the sweater on or take the sweater off and keep the blazer. With it being Career Day and having to do some running around, I stuck with the blazer most of the day and took off the sweater.

Details:
Blazer: Stafford Prep Navy Cotton Blazer via JCP-$27.50
Sweater: Old Navy Light Brown Marbled Sweater via Old Navy-Gift
Shirt: American Living White/Purple Micro-Check L/S Shirt via JCP-$5
Jeans: Gap "Slim Fit" Dark Denim via Gap-$45
Socks: Gray/Light Gray/Orange Argyle Socks via Gap-$3
Shoes: Vintage Florsheim Imperial Loafers via eBay-$25
Total: $105.50

Parent/Teacher Conference WDIWT...4/22/13

This is the last Parent/Teacher Conference of the year and besides having the daily responsibility of dressing professionally, ensuring that you look professional on a day such as Parent/Teacher Conference is important. I've seen many cases where teachers simply don't care and wear whatever they feel. Respecting your profession, your students and the parents of those students is just as important as the knowledge you instill, dressing appropriately for it, is one way to demonstrate respect for the profession.

With today being supposedly the coldest day of the week, with the weather being in the low 50s, I decided to wear 2 of the 3 pieces of my Indochino Brown Bootlegger Tweed suit, with a peacoat over it when heading outside, which really is going from the house to the car, the car to work and work to the car. I paired with a blue micro-check shirt on white and navy tie with white polka dots. 3 of the pieces are custom, two aren't, showing that you can mix high and low.

Details:
Vest: Indochino Brown Bootlegger Tweed via Indochino-$80
Trousers: Indochino Brown Bootlegger Tweed via Indochino-$part of a suit deal voucher
Shirt: Michael Andrews Bespoke White/Navy Micro-Check Dress Shirt via Michael Andrews Bespoke-$210
Tie: Stafford Prep Navy/White Polka Dot via JCP-$6.50
Shoes: Florsheim Brown Spectator Captoes via eBay-$15

This is how I look like when I wake up at 5am and out the door by 5:45

The Devil is in the Details

I like blue and polka dots today (Also my 1 of my 2 favorite pair of shoes)

Keeping It Casual but Dressy

For the times that you need to keep it a little dressed up but still want to keep that casual Friday going on. The versatility of a navy blazer and simple white pocket square can't be underestimated.  The great thing is that from the waist down it could be dark denim or khaki or gray dress trousers and it would still look great.

Details:
Blazer: Stafford Prep Navy Unstructured Blazer via JCP-$27.50
Shirt: Gap White/Light Blue/Pink Check Shirt via Gap Factory Store-$15
Pocket Square: Pierre Cardin White Cotton Pocket Square via Marshall's-$.50 a piece

Not Shown:
Jeans: Gap "Slim Fit" Dark Denim via Gap-$45
Shoes: Florsheim Cognac Imperial Wingtips via eBay-$25

WDIWT...4/9/13

With the temperatures set to hit the high 70's to low 80's today in the city, and the first time it is anywhere near that warm in MONTHS, it was a good time to show a bit of Spring into the wardrobe while still keeping it professional. As I do work as a teacher I still find myself keeping things a bit muted and along the lines of professional attire, although I was tempted to wear red chinos today. For many, going sock-less would not be considered professional but I think it is one of the few things I can probably get away with, in order to infuse that Spring look.

Details:
Blazer: Stafford Prep Navy Cotton Blazer via JCP-$27.50
Shirt: Gap White/Pink/Light Blue Check Long Sleeve Shirt via Gap-$15
Trousers: H&M Khaki Chinos via H&M-$7.50
Shoes: Florsheim Imperial Vintage Loafers via eBay-$25

WDIWT...4/5/13

It's finally starting to warm-up in New York City! Originally was planning to wear a coat but instead just layered a sweater with my unstructured Navy blazer. This is in my opinion is a great way to keep yourself warm with the ever changing weather in NYC. Take the blazer off if it's too warm, add the blazer if it starts getting too cold. I wore it without the blazer during the day as the custodial staff thought it would be smart to turn on the heat...

Details:
Blazer: Stafford Prep Navy Unstructured Blazer via JCP-$27.50
Sweater: Old Navy Light Brown V-Neck Sweater-$12.50
Shirt: Stafford White/Brown Gingham L/S Dress Shirt via JCP-$11.25
Jeans: Old Navy "Slim Fit" via Old Navy-$2.50
Shoes: Florsheim Imperial Wingtips in Cognac via eBay-$25

Two Different Outfits for Today...3/30/13

The first outfit I changed into after I came back from the gym and showered, as I was heading to the bank with my parents. The blazer is a new pick up from JCP from their Stafford Prep line. While there my good friend sent me a text if I wanted to go to the Dodger game which I said yes too, so I got home and changed into something a bit more casual. Don't be surprised if I recycle the first outfit posted tomorrow since I didn't wear it more than 2 hours.
