WDIWT....6/21/14 Class of 2014 Graduation!

Today was the graduation of the 3rd graduating class I've had the pleasure to teach! I wore a navy blue suit and broke out the Carmina Pythons for the occasion. When wearing something bold, in this case the shoes, keep everything else muted.

WDIWT...6/5

First time I wear this suit but it needs some work. Had it taken in last week and I think my guy took it in a little too much, either that or my stance isn't helping.

WDIWT...5/5/14 A Taste of Color

I've been reluctant to wear these Tommy Hilfiger burgundy/maroon trousers that I picked up a few weeks back at Macy's for about $10. Granted I have some from Target's Merona line as well but although I've seen the color pulled off very well by others I hadn't gotten around to giving it a second try. Well I'm glad I did today. This was probably one of my most complimented outfits ever, from other teachers/adults to students.

I picked up these trousers from my tailor about a week ago where I got them hem and tapered to 8".

Jacket: Indochino Essential Navy Suit Worsted Wool via Indochino-$449 (price of suit, part of a 3 piece suit)

WDIWT...4/23/14-Fall into Spring

Fall can't seem to leave New York even when it's the end of April. Corduroy trousers and a donegal tweed blazer did the job on this brisk day in the city and on the first day back to work from Spring Break. In regards to color I kept it simple, navy, light gray and a light brown. I could have worn light brown trousers and a navy blazer and the combination would look just as good.

Details:
Blazer: Vintage Stafford Donegal Tweed 100% Virgin Wool via eBay-$8 (no alterations needed)
Shirt: Indochino Light Gray Micro-Check MTM L/S Shirt via Indochino-$79
Trousers: H&M Navy Corduroy via H&M-$20
Socks: Merona Navy/Teal Anchor via Target-$4
Shoes: Meermin Mallorca Brown Calf Double Monkstraps (Hiro Last) via Meermin Mallorca-$210

WDIW Thursday...4/10/14

Suited it up on Thursday again. I lately haven't been in the "mood" to wear a tie. This is my first MTM suit from Indochino. At the time I thought it fit well but in hindsight it needs to be let out about 1/4"-1/2" and the sleeves need to be longer by about the same amount. For those asking why didn't I ask for it to be remade, well with it being my first attempt at MTM I thought it was acceptable enough and I wasn't as particular. Thankfully their seems to be enough extra fabric to make these alterations possible.

Details:
Suit: Indochino Brown Bootlegger Tweed Suit-$449 (part of a 3 piece suit)
Pocket Square: Merona White Cotton via Target-$5 for 5
Lapel Pin: Macy's Women's Awareness Red Dress-Gift from a student
Shirt: Alfani White/Navy Micro-Gingham L/S Dress Shirt via Macy's-$12.50
Shoes:Aston Grey Brown Suede Wingtip via eBay-$35

WDIWT…3/18/14-Navy Suit

Day #2 of wearing a suit this week, tieless once again as well. I was planning to wear a tie but the top button on the shirt came loose in the morning so I just removed the button and placed it on the dresser so I wouldn't misplace it later reattach it. I still liked how it looked without a tie and it seems that being tieless with a suit at work seems to not be as imposing as with a tie. It's helped that I haven't been in a tie wearing mood but I plan to add the tie to the suit repertoire in the next few days.

Details:
Suit: Indochino Navy Essential Suit (part of a 3 piece suit) via Indochino-$449
Shirt: Stafford White/Brown Gingham L/S Dress Shirt via JC Penney-$10
Pocket Square: Merona White Cotton via Target-$5 for a pack 5
Shoes: Aston Grey Brown Suede Wingtips via eBay-$35

WDIWT…12/2/13

I bought this suit from SuitSupply about 2-2.5 weeks ago from their recently launched SuitSupply online Outlet store. The retail price on the suit was $449 which is on par with their line of suits but they had it for $259 plus tax. I had the jacket let out at the chest and the trousers tapered, waist taken in and hemmed with a 2 inch cuff. In total alterations were about $80 so for about $360 with tax is not a bad deal at all.

Suit: SuitSupply Gray/White Wide Pinstripe via SuitSupply Outlet-$259 plus $80 in alterations

Better late than never. Layering is your best friend and playing with season appropriate colors can be cool too. The theme for the week seems to have been brown and blue, so I went with it. I also got a like by JCPenney for this fit, as their shirt is by them.

WDIWT...10/9/13

I'm usually pretty satisfied with what I wear if not I wouldn't wear it but today I really, really liked the combination that I ended up putting together. I'm not trying to toot my own horn but as this was not what I originally intended to wear, the last minute change is one that worked out better than the original outfit planned. I originally was going to wear the full suit (matching pants to the jacket), same shirt, possibly a solid navy tie and my Meermin double monks. My wife and I usually have our clothes set out for the week during the weekend in order to minimize the time it takes to get ready.

Come the morning I really didn't feel like fully suiting up or moving stacks of boxes and getting the double monks plus putting on the tongue pads I've had lying there for them. Ultimately, laziness won and in a good way I think. Jeans and brown suede chukka boots replaced the suit pants and double monks that were planned, making for still a dressy yet casual look. I've gotten more compliments on this look today than the times I've worn a suit.

WDIWT...4/23/13

Today is Meet The Teacher Night and I feel the occasion calls for a suit, although not all my male co-workers are on the same page about that. With it being pretty cold this morning, low 50s and I still not wanting to wear a coat, I layered a cardigan underneath instead. The cardigan is pretty casual, as the huge buttons just jump out. Once I got in the building though I removed the cardigan and going just suit and tie the rest of the day.

Unfortunately the lighting sucked today.

WDIWT...9/14/13

Attended this surprise party where the theme was to wear red and/or white, thing started 2 hours late. With it being 65 degrees outside wearing red chinos just seemed ridiculous. As a result I went with white denim just seemed more appropriate texture for the weather. I bought these jeans a while ago and hadn't wore them as I didn't feel to comfortable wearing white jeans. I liked the versatility of white denim and actually think it looks pretty good. Took out the double monkstraps as well.

Oh yea apparently my wife were overdressed...oh well.

WDIWY...9/12/13

I didn't post this yesterday because I wasn't really feeling too well, still aren't. In addition I was busy and took incredibly long to get home. The outfit was pretty basic but I did wear the same trousers from the suit on Monday (breaking up a Navy suit), threw on a white shirt and a gray cardigan. Not exceptional, but when I feel like crap I usually tend to not put much thought into what I wear.

Shirt: Merona White Cotton L/S Dress Shirt via Target-$23 plus alterations
Pants: Navy Indochino Trousers part of a suit via Indochino-$449
Shoes: Aston Grey Brown Suede Wingtips via eBay-$35
