WDIWT....6/21/14 Class of 2014 Graduation!

Today was the graduation of the 3rd graduating class I've had the pleasure to teach! I wore a navy blue suit and broke out the Carmina Pythons for the occasion. When wearing something bold, in this case the shoes, keep everything else muted.

Carmina Fitzgerald & Epaulet German Army Trainers

Epaulet New York ventured out of New York; with two locations one in Brooklyn and one in Lower Manhattan, last year and opened up a store in Santa Monica, CA. Unfortunately for West Coast menswear enthusiasts, Epaulet's Santa Monica location is closing it's doors today. In short, the location was a temporary lease and the owner wants to up their monthly payment to 3 times more than what they pay now if they want to extend the lease. I don't blame them for not extending the lease.

As part of their closeout sale all their merchandise is on sale, deep sale. Everything in-store with the exception of their Epaulet LA line is 50% off if you pay cash and 40% off with credit/debit, with EPLA 15% off. When I say everything, I mean everything. From their sports coats  by LBM 1911, to their Epaulet brand, Saphir creams, and whatever they have left from Carmina. Epaulet's version of the German Army Trainer (GAT) which retails for $275 are $100 today.

Not much was left when I arrived but enough to make it worth my while. For my friend Adrian I picked up the GAT in white/gray for the aforementioned price of $100. Made in Italy and the leather is butter soft. I have a wide foot, otherwise I would have purchased a pair for myself as well. My personal pick up were the Carmina Fitzgerald in French Calf on the Forest Last. Retailing for $545 on Epaulet's site, I walked out the door with my size 10UK for $275 (tax included). I was hoping for their loafers to be available but they had small sizes and one large size left.

In addition and not pictured I bought a jar of Saphir renovateur, a medium brown creme and a Saphir polishing brush for $10 each.

WDIWT…3/11/14 (Carmina Boots and Merino Wool)

I went with a combination of three dominant colors for today, purple, navy and walnut and anchored it down with a white shirt with a subtle blue check. More and more I've started to incorporate shades of purple into my wardrobe as it's a shade that seems to go well with my skin tone as I've been told.

These boots are by far one of my favorite pairs of shoes.

Carmina Austerity Brogue Python Epaulet MTO

This is my first pair of exotics and I couldn't be happier. I remember seeing the MTO for them on StyleForum and frankly regretted not jumping on them, then. They were made available for a second time and I passed on them, again. These popped up on a Honk Kong forum and thanks to my friend Adrian who randomly searches for Austerity Brogues, he sent me the link. I had a hard time contacting the guy but thanks to a member on StyleForum who belonged to the HK forum I got in contact with the guy within hours and the deal was done within 2 days. They arrived today.

These are from the first MTO group which featured a much darker python skin, the second MTO had a much lighter skin used. The wait was worth the time as I got these for about half of what they would have cost if I had participated in the MTO. Did I mention they are New in Box with Carmina shoe trees?

Bought these beauties a few weeks back and decided to finally give them a maiden run today. Carmina Shoemaker's attention to detail is evident. The leather is supple and wonderfully shined, yes this the shine out of the box.
