WDIWT...6/21/13

No picture from yesterday ended up playing basketball with my co-workers so it was mostly a shorts, t-shirt and sneaker day.

Today, however, we had meetings all day but was still a casual day at work. With the heat hitting 88 degrees today, I made sure I kept it light at top and and short sleeved.

WDIWT...6/18/13

It's humid, it's gray and it's supposed to rain, so I tried to go with something that was going to let me breathe but still something that wouldn't necessarily make me feel exposed to the rain once it came down. Therefore I went with jeans, a cotton button down and unstructured cotton blazer. Plus people asked for closer pictures here's my first attempt.

Details:
Blazer: Gap Olive Green Unstructured Cotton via Gap Factory Store-$35
Shirt: Chaps Blue/White/Yellow/Light Blue Multi-Strip L/S Dress Shirt via Marshall's-$10 or $15

WDIWT...5/26/13

Went to Mohonk Mountain House today, the place is beautiful, to say the least. Took my wife for a day at the spa and dinner, she's worked hard and deserved it. After the spa her and I went for a walk around the grounds and we then changed into a more formal attire for dinner. Switching up from jeans and a sweater to a suit while leaving the shirt and shoes the same, is an example of versatility.

Shirt: Alfani White/Black/Gray Micro-Check L/S Shirt via Macy's-$12
Jeans: American Rag via Macy's-$7.50

Suit: Calvin Klein Navy Cotton/Linen Blend via CalvinKlein.com-$75+$35 sleeve alterations
Shirt: Alfani White/Black/Gray Micro-Check L/S Shirt via Macy's-$12

Crazy Day! But a Post Nonetheless...

This storm has done some crazy things to people. Going into the city today you could definitely see how bad things are. Literally no gasoline almost anywhere in the city, thankfully we made it home.

The picture below is from yesterday and it's also doubling as my entry to our bi-weekly NikeTalk contest. The current challenge is incorporating sneakers into "dressing better" and I think you can definitely see how you can fit in sneakers into your "dressing better" repertoire.

The only thing I'd change from the outfit is the sweater as I think the lines make me look wider than I really am. Other than that, if I were to switch out the sneakers for some moc-toe boots, or wingtips the outfit becomes a "dressier" outfit. I would have likely switched to a solid navy sweater.

Breakdown:
Sweater: Aeropostale (Gift), Shirt: white with blue vertical stripes by Van Huesen ($12), Jeans: American Rag ($7), Shoes: Nike "Knicks" Dunks (Gift)

Maroon Herringbone Tweed WDYW-Yesterday

So if you remember I bought this Maroon Herringbone Tweed blazer from eBay about 2 weeks ago. The question I got was, well what are you going to wear it with? I understood why, the color was just not something that is common. Partially that was one of the main reasons why I bought it.

Simply when trying to wear a jacket or piece that is of a "louder" color, pattern, etc. anchor it down with some neutral colors/pieces. In this case I paired the jacket with dark denim and white shirt with dark brown almost maroon stripes. A simple white pocket square anchors this too.

Details:
Blazer-eBay $15
Pocket Square-Pierre Cardin Marshalls $2
Shirt-Unknown Brand $10
Pants-American Rag $7
Total: $34

WDYWT...well what I wore on 9/7

This Friday was the first Friday of the school year. The debate for me was should I wear dress pants, a shirt, tie, and a blazer or go Friday casual. As a teacher there is a "grace" period before you pull out your casual duds, however, I think this only applies when you're teaching a group of students you've never taught before. Thankfully for me, I'm teaching the same students that I taught 3 years ago and they know how I operate. Therefore, keeping my look authoritative wasn't necessary. So I went for a casual look as did others.

Shirt: Old Navy Short Sleeve, White/Navy stripe as featured in Look 1 of TSB's feature. $9
Jeans: American Rag purchased at Macy's as featured in Look 3 of TSB's feature. $7
Shoes: LandsEnd Desert Boots, posted a few days ago. $21 shipped
Total: $37

Today Was My Birthday...WDYWT

Today was my birthday, I don't really care too much for it, it's just another day to me but I still wanted to dress up a little bit for the occasion. I had a few articles of clothing that I hadn't worn at all or in a good while. The shirt is a shirt I bought from a friend that was going to post it on eBay, shirt was brand new without tags, I think it's been about a year since I've worn it, now it fits! The jacket is the one previously featured here. Hadn't worn it until today, fits pretty well off the rack and it has working cuffs. Beware that if you get working cuffs that they actually are the right length for you, shortening sleeves with working buttons is extremely difficult and expensive since the shortening has to occur from the shoulder and not the cuffs.

Blazer: Gap $35 via Gap Factory Store
Shirt: Banana Republic $10 via Friend
Pocket Square: Folded Napkin
Jeans: American Rag $7 via Macy's
Shoes: LandsEnd Loafers $21 via LandsEnd.com

And this is what I wore...

Blazer: Gap, Shirt: Banana Republic

Working Cuffs

Jeans: American Rag Shoes: LandsEnd Loafers

Completing the Suit

Remember that jacket that I posted about a week back here? Well I found the pants and took advantage of the 25% off code that I posted a few days back as well. Drove out to the Poughkeepsie Galleria where the Macy's had my size in stock and found them. Paid $23 and change for them. Grand total for the jacket and pants, just under $39! Full cotton suit for under $40?! Yes, this is why I love shopping towards the end of seasons, because all the seasonal stuff goes on sale. Yea some may some but summer is almost over, yes true but the khaki suit is a classic, come next spring and summer I can still wear it.

All the pants need are a hemming.

What I Wore Today...

This is what I wore today, something simple yet comfortable. The bottom is not featured since I wore the same bottoms that I wore in the post about getting my pants hemmed. Wore my American Rag jeans that I just got back with my Gucci Loafers and H&M socks. The short sleeve shirt is from Old Navy which I bought about 2 years ago or so.

FYI: Doubt they'll be a post tomorrow night since I'll be going to the Dodger game!
