WDIWT…2/10/14 Staple Item: Flannel Trousers

The challenge for this week on dressing better on NikeTalk is to wear staple items and demonstrate how we wear them. During Fall/Winter one of my staple items are flannel trousers; whether in light gray or charcoal. These colors are incredibly versatile and can be pair up with essentially anything on top and black or brown shoes.

For today, I went with my charcoal pair with a dark chambray like shirt and a rich midnight navy merino wool shawl neck sweater. The sweater appears black from afar, however, the blue in the shirt brings out the true color.

Feeling slightly better at least regarding my voice but still congested as all get out. My face may not show it but my sinuses are pretty swollen. Oh well, have classes to teach today so I just have to push on through.

I have to give my wife credit for the combination for today. The pants were my choice as they are thicker cotton and with the rain and temperatures today it was just a good choice. However, I wasn't really sure what to combine it with on top. She suggested a combination of pink and navy and I liked how that turned out, a lot.

Huge miss today with the weather here in Florida today. Thought that it would be a lot like yesterday sunny and hot instead it was gray and rainy all day, with temperatures actually being very decent and bearable. I would have been better off in jeans and some actual closed shoes today but still it was comfortable.

The weather warmed up again and since it was a busy day I only got some pictures in with my iPhone. I think it went up to 84 today so I decided to go with chambray and chinos.

A Couple of Pick-Ups

I had ordered some white denim from American Eagle, at $10.78 it was a great deal the only problem was that they only had size 34 and I'm usually a 36. Although I fit the 34 in the waist they were too snug in the thigh area so I went to exchange them and since they didn't have a 36 I exchanged them for 2 ties and only paid a $3 and change difference. One is a navy tie with white and pink striping that can be worn year round and the knit tie clearly is more a winter themed. The shirt, I went and exchanged the Alfani wingtips I had picked up back in December simply because I have so many brown/cognac wingtips that they have remained in the box ever since. I took advantage of Macy's return/exchange policy and went to return it but found this great navy shirt by Club Room in a cotton almost denim like texture. Seen it on GQ in the past but can't seem to find the picture.
